Description
Immense jardinière, très impressionnante. Posé au milieu d’une table le rendu est tout simplement sublime. La jardinière est en faïence estampillée et numérotée de la manufacture Majolica Serreguemines / 269. Magnifique ornementation en bronze doré de qualité, les anses sont finement tapissées de feuilles de guie et orné d’un buste d’Athéna coiffé d’un hibou.
Le col de la jardinière est souligné par un contour de bronze ajouré et d’un rang de perles, le piétement très aérien est ciselé d’enroulement.
La faïence a été restauré. Si l’on regarde avec minutie à certains endroits du bol on perdit cet effet miroir, dû à la restauration, la teinte est la même.

“La faïencerie de Sarreguemines a ouvert ses portes en 1790, a fondé une succursale à Digoin en 1877 et ouvre un entrepôt à Vitry-le-François en 1881 pour accueillir la production de Sarreguemines. Ce n’est qu’à partir de cette dernière date que commence la fabrication des objets en Majolique. On peut lire sur ceux-ci le mention “MAJOLICA” en creux dans la pâte jusque dans les années 1890. Cette faïencerie devient l’une des plus grandes faïenceries d’Europe employant plus de 3000 ouvriers. En 1919 elle devient une société anonyme par la réunion de trois faïenceries sous le nom de “Sarreguemines-Digoin-Vitry-le-François”. La production des barbotines fût stoppée pendant la deuxième guerre mondiale.”

We do not use the term “Restoration”, which implies a significant transformation or major repair that modifies an object’s authenticity or original appearance. Each object is completely dismantled, then thoroughly cleaned part by part; our cleaning technique restores shine without adversely affecting the gold. We then put the clock back together, returning all the various parts to their origin location, as well as all the nuts and screws. Subsequently, the item is inspected to ensure it is perfectly even, symmetrical, and smooth, etc.
The clock’s movement undergoes a complete overhaul; it is totally dismantled, cleaned and each individual part is polished. The duration of this procedure affects the shine: we prefer to obtain a brilliant shine, in keeping with the gilding of the object. To increase the strength and quality of the gears, we apply a very important procedure, known as bouchonnage, to correct for wear accumulated over years of operation, consisting in the placing cork of stoppers in any pivot holes that have become deformed by wear. After the clock has been completely reassembled, it is tested over a long period of time to ensure that the movement, as well as the hour and half-hour strikes, are operating correctly.
