Description
Pendule de style néoclassique, d’époque Napoléon III, se distingue par une composition élégante associant bronze doré et marbre blanc de carrare. L’ensemble repose sur une base rectangulaire en marbre, bordée d’une frise moulurée en bronze finement ciselé à décor de feuilles d’acanthe. Les pieds tournés assurent une élévation stable et confèrent une impression de légèreté malgré la masse du matériau.
The rectangular, architecturally structured case adopts a vocabulary typical of the neoclassical repertoire: straight lines, rigorous symmetry, and ornamentation inspired by antiquity. The side supports are adorned with scrolled brackets highlighted by deeply carved acanthus leaves. The panels and corners are embellished with floral gilt bronze appliqués, demonstrating meticulous chasing.
La façade est dominée par un cadran émaillé blanc à chiffres romains pour les heures et arabes pour les minutes, encadré d’une moulure perlée accompagnées d’aiguilles finement découpées, ajourées et dorées aux motif végétal délicat. Au-dessus du corps de la pendule se développe un élément architectural surmonté d’une urne couverte flanquée de poignées en enroulement et décorée d’une guirlande florale.
The lower part of the dial is highlighted by an openwork border depicting a symmetrical floral motif, reminiscent of antique scrolls and emphasizing the precision of the chasing. The friezes at the base, composed of braids or garlands of plant elements, enhance the overall harmony and decorative richness of the piece.

We do not use the term “Restoration”, which implies a significant transformation or major repair that modifies an object’s authenticity or original appearance. Each object is completely dismantled, then thoroughly cleaned part by part; our cleaning technique restores shine without adversely affecting the gold. We then put the clock back together, returning all the various parts to their origin location, as well as all the nuts and screws. Subsequently, the item is inspected to ensure it is perfectly even, symmetrical, and smooth, etc.
The clock’s movement undergoes a complete overhaul; it is totally dismantled, cleaned and each individual part is polished. The duration of this procedure affects the shine: we prefer to obtain a brilliant shine, in keeping with the gilding of the object. To increase the strength and quality of the gears, we apply a very important procedure, known as bouchonnage, to correct for wear accumulated over years of operation, consisting in the placing cork of stoppers in any pivot holes that have become deformed by wear. After the clock has been completely reassembled, it is tested over a long period of time to ensure that the movement, as well as the hour and half-hour strikes, are operating correctly.
